How mounting a servo-zoom lens on your DSLR help increase production value.
At New Day Media we pride ourselves in our ability to offer creative solutions to video production. Now, we have mounted a Canon Broadcast-Style lens on our DSLR camera.
Broadcast-Style lenses were manufactured for camcorders to provide a smooth and reliable zoom during newscasts. By combining a battery powered servo-zoom, and the manual control of a DSLR, our upcoming commercials have the potential to be even greater than before.
Zooming in or pulling out on the subject, in a smooth manner, can drastically change the mood of your video; It can grab attention and add dramatic effect, resulting in an overall more dynamic spot.
Don’t be fooled by the Recency Argument
Some might claim newer is always better. Sure, with newer technology comes more user-friendly and high-quality equipment. However, assuming the lens covers the entire sensor, lenses do not have expiration dates. You can save hundreds of dollars by buying an older lens with good glass rather than a newer lens with bad glass.
Our new setup has opened up a new door to video production. Let’s put it to the test!
